URGENT HELP NEEDED – will you share some photos for an exciting new parenting product?

Posted on 17th September 2011 in Kristen's Blog

A friend of mine in the UK is an extremely talented documentary director with a CV others would kill for. Diana has recently raised funding to create a set of babycare DVDs for broad distribution through selected retailers. She has support from babyfriendly UNICEF (who present all the breastfeeding info contained in the DVDs); the British dietetics association (for nutrition); St John ambulance (who give the first aid demonstrations); the meningitis trust, the eczema foundation… And many more! She has midwives showing how to change nappies and things like knowing what baby poo looks like – and paediatricians showing all sorts of basic ailments.

Diana is in the final stages of preparing these amazing resources which will include four DVDs and nearly 7 hours of information!

She’s translating it into Urdu and Arabic so mums in the UK who may have trouble talking to their doctor will be able to get basic advice.

Diana is desperately short of a few remaining photos and needs help by oct 4th latest! The photos she needs are (yes, some are a bit gross – but we’re talking real babies & real Mums needing real help…):

Mastitis – close ups of the boob

Cracked and sore nipples – ditto

Every sort of baby poo – meconium; breast fed; formula fed; on solids; diarrhoea; constipation; mucus/ blood in poo.

Baby’s teeth coming through- all the different stages!

Needless to say these images will be treated with absolute respect and discretion, no names needed and knowing Diana, the work will be of stunning quality.

Any help would be hugely appreciated! Emails of photos as the highest possible resolution would be amazing. Send the pics to me at naturallybetterkids@gmail.com and I’ll forward them on.

In exchange, you will receive a FREE SET of these DVDs when they are available.

Thank you so much in advance – some images have been easy to get but these, for some reason, are proving really hard to find!

The skinny from the Morrison family

me and the girls

I don’t know too many people who don’t have a million balls in the air at the moment. Achieving balance of work, family and sanity seems to be on everyone’s wishlist and our family has certainly teetered on the brink on more than one occasion! Life has always been busy for us, but when you add a therapy program for a child with extra needs, whilst keeping the house in order and without neglecting the other children or ending up in divorce (!), it can be pretty overwhelming to say the least!

Our original plan for Gryffin was that he’d start Montessori school in mid 2010, but for various reasons, we put that off and are now beginning to plan his homeschooling.  Again, there are all sorts of reasons for this decision, but mostly it’s because his program is now interwoven with education and whilst we continue to see improvements we don’t feel we can interrupt his progress.

After our trip to Philadelphia in March, we came home to put his revised program in place, and as is always the case with IAHP methods, the results appeared straight away. I braced myself for the reality that this new program would go on indefinitely, and began to look for volunteers. One of the exercises we do with him – called patterning – requires 3 people to do multiple sessions, spread out throughout each day. Who has 3 people at home with their child every day? Not us!
