Many people don’t know that in order to function to their best capacity, their bodies require dietary supplements like vitamins, minerals & amino acids. Modern eating habits and depletion of our food and soil quality has taken its toll, and when combined with other environmental factors, many of us are tired, stressed and under functioning – where we could be doing better.
When a child is experiencing health challenges, supplements can be of huge benefit. Supplements can calm you down, help you sleep, give you energy & help you think more clearly. I’ve written extensively about how supplements relate to early childhood in Naturally Better, and how we can help boost our children’s immune systems and even brain function through the use of supplements.
Targeted Nutritional Intervention is a recognized form of therapy for children with Down syndrome. But the act of intervening through nutrition to target a specific health concern is, of course, not something used only for Downs. It can be beneficial for anyone of any age, and may address conditions as mild as irritability or skin rashes.
Nutritionists and other practitioners tailor nutritional programs for people all the time. Did you know for example that there is a supplement on the market here in Australia which can specifically address the following:
SUPPORT THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
ENHANCE COGNITION
PROMOTE BRAIN FUNCTION
ADAPT TO STRESS
IMPROVE MEMORY RETENTION
IMPROVE CONCENTRATION
PROMOTE HEALTHY BEHAVIOUR
All of this from just one of the great tasting supplements we give our son every day.
Here is an extract from an email I received recently from a happy parent:
My daughter has ASD. Since taking the supplements her behaviours and speech have improved so much that it has been noticed by the Kindy and Speech pathologist. It’s wonderful to see her progessing and interacting more.

I am not a practitioner, so it has been impossible to date for me to give specifics about which supplement brands should be used for an individual child – beyond the information in my book. But the most common question I am asked by parents after reading the book is how to begin with the supplements. Many parents realise there is more they could be doing for their child nutritionally it seems.

Hi
My son Lester is 1 year old and he has Down syndrome and Hirschsprungs disease. I have taken him to a few naturopaths as there are a few things that I have wanted to include into his supplement regime as per Kristen’s book- however they will not recommend a dosage for me as they haven’t any knowledge in giving them to babies.
I have him on Omega 3 fish oil capsules, cognisense and children’s formula by Orthoplex, however I know I need to add to this.
We live in WA and would like to know what the price is for a phone or Skype consultation.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Lianne
Hi Lianne, thanks for posting – I will email you about this in a minute. Cheers, Kristen.
i’d like to know also about your fees. My son is a month old and I like to start as soon as possible doing the Targeted Nutritional Intervention.
Thanks,
Lilian
HI! I’m planning to purchase a Glyconutrient product online, but am confused as to which is the right one. My daughter is 14 months old and has DS. This is the one I am leaning towards. http://glyconutrientsshop.com/
I have been to a naturopath, but he doesn’t seem to know much about glyconutrients. I would really appreciate your opinion.
Thanks!
Hi Laura – I will email you about this. We use the Mannatech brand – the original and in our opinion, the best. I can help you access them :)
Hi
Hoping for some help. I posted before but not sure if I received a reply. My son is 5. Has a poor diet – no fruit and have to hide veggies. Has little red allergy eyes underneath – not dark. Noticed poor concentration and speech is slightly delayed. Any recommendations for supplements.
thanks for your time
Nadia

Hi, My 18mth old grandson is currently being treated with diet for salicylate intolerance. This very limited diet poses a problem with finding good nutrition. The diet has relieved much of his rash but his agtgresive ehaviour is becoming a problem. He is a twin born prematurely and the chiropractor has indicated he will grow out of his intolerances by around 2 yrs old. My concern is that his behaviour is already affecting him in how he his treated by his parents and sibling. His biting, hitting, pinching is very aggresive towards his sister. How can we move through this a sensible treatment plan? I would appreciate you help & advice. Thank you, Ann
Hi Ann, I understand how frustrating this is, diets can be so hard to maintain especially for kids! You can book in for a consult with Sita who would tailor a nutritional plan for your grandson – from my layman’s perspective, it sounds like he would benefit from a supplement program as well as the dietary changes. At the same time, there are treatments we have used with great success for our son to alleviate food intolerances – it’s all discussed in my book in great detail. The method is called NAET, and depending on where you are, I may be able to help you find a practitioner. All the best, Kristen
Hello Madhu, did you receive my reply to your question? Please do let me know, Regards Kristen.
Hi Madhu, thank you for your comment. It’s impossible to advise you without a full consultation. I will email you regarding Sita’s Nutritional Consultations, and hope you find that helpful for your son. Regards, Kristen.
